Services

Four disciplines.
One bench.

Most engagements draw on more than one. You work with the same team throughout — no handover to a delivery department you have never met.

01

Custom Software

Web, mobile, APIs and enterprise platforms, engineered around the way your business actually works.

  • Discovery, scoping and specification
  • Interface and experience design
  • Full-stack build and systems integration
  • Automated testing and deployment
  • Handover documentation and training
02

Automation & Integration

Removing the manual steps between your systems — the re-keying, the exports, the report somebody rebuilds by hand each month.

  • Process mapping to find the costly steps
  • Integration between disconnected systems
  • Scheduled jobs, alerting and exceptions
  • Dashboards fed from live data
  • Migration off brittle spreadsheets
03

Consulting & Architecture

Technical leadership for teams that need a clear plan before committing budget — or a second opinion on the one they have.

  • Architecture and code review
  • Technical due diligence
  • Modernisation and migration roadmaps
  • Platform and vendor selection
  • Fractional technical leadership
04

Managed Services & Outsourcing

Engineers embedded in your team, or a support function running alongside it, under service levels agreed up front.

  • Engineers embedded in your team
  • Application support and maintenance
  • Incident response and on-call cover
  • Capacity that scales by sprint
  • Knowledge transfer, never lock-in

Marula Nexus.

Engineered for modern delivery.

Marula Nexus is built the way modern software should be — modern tooling from planning to deployment, with senior engineers reviewing every line that reaches production. It's a different starting point to legacy IT consultancies, and it shows in how fast good ideas become working software.

That approach keeps delivery lean without cutting corners — fewer handoffs, shorter chains of command, and a bench of engineers who ship. Clients notice the difference from the first sprint.

The Nexus Engine.
A serious edge for delivery speed.

It's here. The most opinionated delivery framework we've built yet.

Client Ops Dashboard — discovery to production in 3 weeks

The Nexus Engine is our internal delivery framework — a blend of modern engineering practice, reusable architecture patterns and senior code review that lets a small team ship at enterprise pace.

Projects move from discovery to working software faster, with fewer surprises late in a sprint, and a paper trail every stakeholder can follow.

Work

Discovery. Build.
Handover.

Every project follows the same three phases, whatever track it sits in. You always know what happens next, and what it costs, before it happens.

01

Discovery

Typically 3–5 days

We map the problem before we quote it — the systems involved, who touches them, and what "done" has to look like. You leave with a written scope, a milestone plan and a cost, and you are free to take that plan elsewhere.

02

Build

Sprints of 1–2 weeks

Work runs in short cycles with something reviewable at the end of each one. Senior engineers review every change before it reaches production, so problems surface inside the sprint rather than at handover.

03

Handover

At milestone sign-off

You receive the source, the deployment pipeline, the documentation and a walkthrough with your team. Nothing depends on us staying — ongoing support is a separate agreement, not a dependency we engineered in.

Where we are a good fit

  • A system that has outgrown its spreadsheet
  • An internal tool nobody wants to maintain
  • A funded build that needs to start now
  • A second opinion before budget is committed

About

Built in Sandton.
Built to ship.

A software development, automation and consulting company working with South African businesses that need serious engineering without the overheads of a large consultancy.

Read why we started Marula Nexus

The Nexus Engine

The Nexus Engine is the internal delivery framework every engagement runs through — reusable architecture patterns, an automated testing and deployment pipeline, and a senior review gate before anything ships.

It exists so a small team can deliver at a pace clients associate with much larger ones, and so the quality of a project never depends on which engineer happened to be assigned to it.

How we work

Senior review on everything

Every change that reaches production has been read by an experienced engineer. That single practice is what keeps delivery fast without the usual cost in defects.

Short chains of command

You talk to the people building the software. There is no account layer translating your requirements into a brief for somebody else.

No engineered lock-in

You get the source, the pipeline and the documentation. If you want to take the work in-house, nothing in how we build it is designed to stop you.

Scope in writing, first

What is being built, what it costs and when it lands is agreed before work starts. Changes are re-quoted rather than absorbed quietly into the timeline.
